Course description

As water security under changing climate being one of the most critical international issues, the current challenges and opportunities lie in:

• 1 the capability of the water cycle model in representing the physical hydrological process and
• 2 accuracy, reliability, and adequacy of forcing data (ground and remote sensing observation).

Satellite remote sensing technique bears the promising potential to overcome the limited spatial coverage of in-situ observations thus enabling better understanding of water cycles at regional and global scales. Particularly, satellite remote sensing technique is of importance for emerging regions where have inadequate or even no in-situ observations. However, Universities in engineering or applied science has been slow to embrace satellite remote sensing.
